Frequently Asked Questions โ New Zealand
How does New Zealand compare to Australia for Pakistani students?
New Zealand is very similar to Australia in terms of education quality, English-speaking environment, and post-study work options. Key differences: NZ tuition is slightly lower, competition for places is slightly less, the country is smaller with fewer job opportunities, but NZ has a very welcoming immigration policy. The 3-year post-study work visa matches Australia's 485 visa.
Can Pakistani students get PR in New Zealand?
Yes. After completing your degree and obtaining the post-study work visa, you can apply for the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) residence visa after gaining New Zealand work experience. Points are awarded for age, qualifications, skilled employment in NZ, and job offers. Many Pakistani graduates have obtained New Zealand PR through this pathway.
What are the best courses to study in New Zealand for Pakistani students?
Agriculture and food science (NZ is a global leader), engineering, IT, nursing and healthcare, MBA, and environmental science are particularly strong in New Zealand. Nursing is in high demand and leads directly to PR pathways. HS Global advises on which courses offer the strongest career and immigration outcomes.
